 In addition to the business meeting for the State and Local Chapters, the Color Guard met to discuss the new Color Guard Manual, approve the purchase of a drum and answer new Guard members questions.

Television series on the Revolutionary War

Try AHCTV web site for a nice 3 part series , The American Revolution.

The History Channel has a short series "Sons of Liberty" which began January 25th, 2015. Read a review in the "Journal of the American Revolution" blog . The website of history.com as the episodes for you online.

TURN, the series covering the Culper spy ring during the revolution will resume April 13, 2015 on AMC.

Naturalization ceremony in St. Cloud, MN

The Minnesota Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard  posted the colors at the citizenship ceremony for 84 new citizens on 23 July.  Working in conjunction with the Sarah Steeley Sibley chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Guard members posted the colors at the beginning of the ceremony and following the ceremony congratulated many of the new citizens.

Over 1,200 people attended the event this year. Along with the S.A.R. Color Guard, the 7th PA group, several D.A.R. ladies provided living history for the people attending.

Guard Commander Receives Patriot Medal

Color Guard Commander, the Honorable Paul K. Theisen was awarded the Patriot Medal by the Minnesota Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution at the February Washington Day luncheon. This is the highest award the Minnesota Chapter may present to a compatriot and is in recognition of long, faithful and outstanding service to a chapter or to the State chapter. The medal was designed by the late compatriot General of the Army Douglas MacArthur.  Theisen was recognized by the State Chapter for his creation of the Minnesota S.A.R. Color Guard in 2007 and his leadership of the Guard since inception. Under his guidance the Guard has grown in numbers and has made many appearances in the State, fostering greater public interest in our Nation's Revolutionary War background.
  Theisen is also a recipient of the Bronze Color Guard medal, and is a past State Chapter President of the S.A.R.
